Francesco Chebat’s new work takes inspiration from Musorgskij’s famous piano suite. This CD is produced by Francesco Chebat and Gianni Satta for Double Stroke Records and it is recorded with Stefano Bertoli on drums and Cisco Portone on percussions and cajon. While in Pictures at an Exhibition by Musorgskij Promenades are based on the same leit motif, in this CD they are tracks of noises and sound effects that connect the rooms.
PROMENADE is therefore a walk through the imaginary rooms of an exhibition, made of sounds and atmospheres; it moves through acoustic and electric scenes, with two Grooves at the beginning and at the end that represent the imaginary entrance and exit of the exhibition, a welcome and a goodbye.
This work takes inspiration from various famous artists, such as Miles Davis (“Tutu”, “Amandla”, “In a Silent Way”), Joe Zawinul and Weather Report and, most of all the Swedish pianist Esbjörn Svensson, to whom Promenade is dedicated.
This group is bass-less, just like Hammond organ jazz trios. Francesco refers to this tradition, using synthesizers. Bass lines are played with the left hand, while the right hand plays melodies and improvisation. This album is a live studio recording, without any overdubbing.
All the songs are written and arranged by Francesco Chebat: Promenade tracks have been recorded at Haus der Musik in Vienna, while all the other tracks have been recorded, mixed and mastered at Cavò Studio, Azzano San Paolo, Bergamo (Italy).

“Gianni and I have been playing together for many years, in many places with different groups. Soon we found out that a bass-less trio was the most flexible, the most clever solution for us and the most exciting as well! All in a sudden, we realized the time had come to record an album with our music, our influences and our inspirations all mixed together. I wrote some tunes and we started working on this record. The result is an exhibition of the ways we have been playing together during these years. This album is dedicated to Esbjörn Svensson.”
